Mobile Car Servicing & Repairs Crewe
Service appointments set around a shift rota rather than against it — Wistaston, Shavington, Haslington, Sydney, Willaston or Crewe Green, whichever day of the rotation suits. Oil and filters, brakes, fluid condition, tyre checks and clutch diagnosis, done on the drive while you are at work or catching up on sleep. Work needing the car properly raised is quoted and booked in with us.
Fitting A Service Into A Shift Rotation
Crewe runs on rotas. The railway works, the distribution sheds off the A500, the care and retail shifts — a great many people here are starting at five in the morning, finishing at ten at night, or on a run of nights with a sleep pattern that has nothing to do with office hours. A garage’s booking slot falls exactly in the hours you cannot spare, and so the service slides a month, then two, then until something starts making a noise.
Coming to the car removes the clash entirely. Send the registration and mileage when you book and the correct oil, filters and any likely parts are loaded before we set off, so the visit is one appointment rather than a diagnosis followed by a return trip. You do not have to stand over the job, and whatever we find gets written down and talked through when you are awake. Appointments run Monday to Saturday between 8am and 6pm — pick the day of the rotation that costs you the least.
Cars That Stand Still, Then Cover Three Hundred Miles
Shift work produces an unusual usage pattern: a vehicle parked for four or five days, then a long motorway leg or a week of back-to-back journeys. Standing does its own damage. Tyres take a flat spot where the weight has been resting, discs grow a film of surface rust that the first few stops have to scrub off, brake and clutch fluid carries on absorbing moisture from the air regardless of whether the wheels turn, and oil sits in the sump with whatever acids the last cold start put there.
So the checks that matter on a car like this are not the ones a mileage-based schedule emphasises. We read tyre date codes as well as tread depth, look for flat-spotting and sidewall cracking, measure brake fluid moisture content with a tester rather than judging it by colour, inspect disc faces for pitting under the rust rather than just scoring, and set the oil interval by time. A car that has done eight thousand miles in three years still needs its fluids thinking about.
Clutches And Driveline On A Stop-Then-Sprint Pattern
Those same bursts of use are hard on a transmission. A cold clutch dragged through queueing traffic on Weston Road or the A534, then a long high-gear stint on the A500, puts the dual-mass flywheel through exactly the cycle it dislikes most. The giveaways are a rattle at idle that vanishes the moment the pedal goes down, a judder as the clutch takes up, a biting point that has climbed towards the top of the pedal travel, or a smell after a hill start with a full car.
We diagnose that properly instead of assuming the worst. A road test, a look at pedal free play and the hydraulics, and a check of engine and gearbox mountings will often identify something far cheaper than a clutch, and where the clutch and flywheel genuinely are finished you get a price for the whole job before a spanner moves. Gearbox-out work is booked in with us, since it needs lifting gear rather than a driveway.
Booked Around Your Week
Planned servicing and repairs with a confirmed slot, carried out wherever the vehicle is parked across the CW1 and CW2 area.
Appointments To Suit Shifts
A date chosen from your rotation rather than from a waiting list, with the parts for the job already on board so one visit covers it.
Fluids Judged By Condition
Brake fluid moisture measured with a tester, coolant and gearbox oil assessed on age as well as appearance, and renewals recommended on evidence.
Tyres, Discs & Standing Wear
Tread, pressures, date codes, flat-spotting and sidewall condition checked, along with the disc and pad surfaces that suffer on a car left parked for days.
Clutch & Driveline Checks
Judder, rattle and a high biting point investigated on a road test, with mountings and hydraulics ruled in or out before a clutch is ever quoted.
Oil Changes By The Calendar
Low annual mileage served by time-based oil and filter changes, so a car that barely turns a wheel is not running three-year-old lubricant.
Pre-MOT On A Rest Day
A walk through the testable items ahead of your test date, with a written list of anything that would fail or earn an advisory and time left to sort it.

Servicing Across The Crewe Area
We cover Crewe and the villages ringing it as part of our ordinary week, which is what makes a rota-friendly appointment practical rather than a favour. The list below is the area treated as local for booked work.
Questions We Get Asked
I work nights. Can the car be serviced while I am asleep or on shift?
Yes, that is one of the main reasons people book us. As long as we have access to the vehicle and the keys are arranged beforehand, the work goes ahead without you being involved. We leave a written note of what was done and what we found, and we will call or message at a time you have told us is sensible rather than waking you up.
Does leaving the car parked for days at a time cause damage I should be looking for?
It causes a particular set of problems rather than general wear. Tyres flat-spot and age, discs and the contact faces of pads corrode, fluids keep absorbing moisture, and rubber components dry out without the flexing that driving gives them. None of it is dramatic on its own, but all of it is worth inspecting, which is why a standing car is checked differently from one that is used daily.
My tyres feel lumpy for the first mile after the car has stood. Is something wrong?
Usually that is flat-spotting, where the section of tread carrying the weight has taken a temporary set, and it normally works itself out as the tyres warm up. If the vibration stays beyond a few miles, or you can see a distinct band of distortion, the tyre may have taken a permanent set or there may be a separation starting. We will check for both and say which you have.
Is brake fluid worth changing on a car that does hardly any braking?
Yes, because the reason for changing it has little to do with use. Brake fluid draws water out of the atmosphere through the reservoir and the flexible hoses over time, which lowers its boiling point and starts corroding the inside of the system. We measure the moisture content so the decision is based on a figure, and on a low-mileage car it is often the single most worthwhile item on the list.
There is a rattle at idle that stops when I press the clutch pedal. What is that?
Classically that points to a dual-mass flywheel whose internal springs and friction plates have worn, because pressing the pedal takes the load off and the noise disappears. It can also be a release bearing or a worn gearbox input shaft bearing, which sound similar from the driver’s seat. We road test and check the hydraulics and mountings before quoting, so you are not paying for a flywheel you did not need.
Can you leave a service report if nobody is in when you finish?
Yes. Every visit ends with a written record of the work carried out, the parts and specifications used, the mileage on the day and anything we noticed that will need attention later. If you are on shift we leave it with the vehicle and follow it up by phone or WhatsApp once you are free to talk it through.
