Mobile Car & Van Servicing Middlewich

Servicing that comes to the yard, the unit or the driver’s drive, right across Middlewich, Cledford, Byley, Warmingham and out towards Holmes Chapel. Cars, pickups and light commercials, booked for a date and a time so a working vehicle is off the road for an hour or two rather than a day. Heavier repairs are quoted and booked in with us.

Keeping A Small Fleet Working, Not Waiting

Middlewich runs on light commercials. The salt works, the units off the A54, the trades operating out towards Byley and Warmingham and the delivery traffic that uses the A533 as a way round the motorway all depend on vehicles that earn nothing while they sit outside a garage waiting their turn. Servicing a van at your own yard between drops, or on a driver’s drive first thing, takes most of that downtime out of the equation.

It changes how the work is planned rather than how carefully it is done. Send the registrations and the mileages, and we will tell you what each vehicle is due, arrive with the right oil and filters for all of them, and work through them in whatever order keeps the ones you need first out on the road. Anything that genuinely requires lifting gear gets priced and booked in with us instead of bodged in a yard.

Payload Decides What Wears First

A van running near its limit every day does not wear like a car with the same figure on the clock. Rear springs and bushes carry a constant load, the back brakes do more than people expect because the weight sits over them, and tyres spend their lives at pressures nobody checks until one goes down. Front pads on a laden van wear to a pattern you learn to recognise.

So the list changes with the vehicle. We look at ride height and the condition of leaves or coils, check shock bodies and bump stops properly, measure pads and shoes front and rear, and set tyre pressures to the laden figures on the plate rather than the solo ones. Brake imbalance on a loaded van is far better caught by us than by a tester.

Records That Stand Up On Paper

A vehicle file that says nothing more than serviced is no use to anybody. For each van we write down the date, the mileage, what was replaced, the oil specification used and anything flagged for next time, so you can see a pattern developing across the fleet instead of a drawer full of receipts.

That is also what makes a pre-test inspection worth having. We go through the testable items at your yard, hand over a list of what would fail and what would only be advised, and leave the decisions about what to put right and when with you — which beats finding out on the morning of the test.

Servicing Around Middlewich

The canal, the A54 and the A533 put a lot of working vehicles through this town, and most of them are easier to service where they are parked than on somebody else’s ramp. These are the places we attend as standard.

Middlewich Servicing FAQs

Questions We Get Asked

Can you service a van at our yard between drops?

That is how most of our commercial work gets done. Give us a window when the vehicle will be standing and a reasonably level spot to work in, and an oil and filter service with the full check over is comfortably inside a couple of hours. If we find something that needs more time, you get a price and a separate date rather than a van held hostage.

Do vans need servicing more often than cars doing the same mileage?

Frequently yes, because of how the mileage is made up. Constant load, more idling, more stop-start and heavier braking all shorten oil life and wear brakes and suspension faster than the same distance in an unladen car. Several manufacturers publish a separate heavy-duty schedule for exactly this, and that is normally the one a working van should be on.

What do you record so our vehicle files stay in order?

Date, mileage, registration, the service level carried out, the oil specification and the part numbers of anything replaced, plus a note of what we advised for next time. You get that in writing after each visit so it can go straight into the vehicle’s file.

Our van sits low at the back under load. Is that springs or shocks?

Ride height is the springs; control of the movement is the shocks. A rear end that sits low even when empty points at sagging or cracked leaves or tired coils, while a van that bounces repeatedly over a bump has lost its damping. We check both, because one failing usually hurries the other along.

Can you pre-check a van before its test?

Yes, and it is worth doing a week or two ahead. We go through brakes, suspension, steering, tyres, lights, exhaust and the condition of anything structural we can reach, then give you a written list split into what would fail and what would be an advisory. Any work you want doing can then be fitted around the vehicle’s schedule instead of in a panic.

Can two or three vans be done on the same visit?

Yes, and it usually works out better for everyone. Tell us the registrations and current mileages in advance so we turn up with the right oil, filters and consumables for each one, and we will work through them in the order that suits your day.
